Roadblock Analysis

Spinning your wheels? Don’t wait for forward movement. What does your business need most?

When you find yourself stuck in a bottleneck of backlogged tasks and piled up projects, it’s best to step back and find out what resource is missing. Do you need an extra set of hand? Or have unnecessary tasks been cluttering up your to-do list?

It can be difficult to jump off the crisis-management train long enough to figure it out. But that needs to happen. The definition of insanity is, “doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different result.” Perhaps a simple productivity tool would make the difference between chaos and progress. But even that can have it’s disadvantages for those who suffer from A.D.O.S. (Attention-Deficit-Ooo-Shiny!) Syndrome. Maybe delegation isn’t your specialty, and some training is in order to help you and your team work better in tandem.

Whatever the solution is, the hard part is often defining the problem with enough clarity and objectivity. Roadblocks are not a sign of failure, but rather an indication of growth. If we never encounter obstacles, it generally means we’ve been complacently stuck in a rut. This can involve processes, or the interactions of your people. Nonetheless, they can be frustrating, especially if our efforts to push through doesn’t seem to get us anywhere.

This is often when an extra set of objective eyes can be invaluable. Someone on the outside can often look at the same problem and see the obvious, because they’re not so close to the situation that the minutia gets in the way. If an executive can perceive the value of meeting challenges within their organization head-on, invest in the improvements needed, and empower their people with the ownership of the solution, the battle is half-over.

I’d love to help with the first steps – scheduling and communication difficulties are at the root of many productivity roadblocks. Does that sound familiar? Don’t wait until these problems create toxic work relationships. Let’s talk about the specific issues that you’d like to address, and come up with the right solutions for your business!
